Congratulations to Bro. Jimmy Stewart P.M. and Bro. Murrie Thomson P.M. Both of Lodge Kirkliston Maitland 482 on being made honorary members of Lodge Kirknewton & Ratho 85 last night, 11/11/16.
Both were honoured by R.W.M. Bro. Alan Banks who gave fitting remarks on the assistance both brethren had given to Lodge Kirknewton & Ratho 85 over the years. Bro. Jimmy for his ever present attendance and help not only in setting the hall up for Harmony but on the brethren of the Lodge always able to call on him to give us an auld Scots song at Harmony. Brother Jimmy also way back in 2008 conferred Honorary Membership on our RWM Bro. Alan Banks into Kirkliston Maitland 482. Bro. Murrie Thomson was unaware that he was about to become an honorary member, but for his work during the close season to redesign and move the Lodge's website to a more accessible location, giving Lodge members the ability to update it easily and efficiently not only improves our social media presence, but ensures a pleasant experience to anyone visiting our website, Facebook page and twitter feeds. Bro. Murrie has also over the years been our chief "unofficial" photographer, having photographed many of our Installation programmes and indeed our 250th celebrations. We welcome both as members of our Lodge and know this will help strengthen the already strong ties between our two Lodges.

Well our Halloween themed barge trip was a great success. The RWM would like to thank everyone who participated, not only on the day but to those that donated to the day with either money or raffle prizes. Of course the real success is the amount raised through donations, raffle, quizzes and fancy dress competitions which enabled the RWM to hand over a cheque to the tune of £535 for this most worthwhile cause, The Seagull Trust. Our sincere thanks to all The Seagull Trust volunteers who assisted on the day to make our trip so enjoyable.
